Orient Express Bank
Orient Express Bank is one of Russia’s largest and fastest-growing financial institutions with the country’s widest branch network among private banks (it operates in each of Russia’s federal districts, and had 586 branches and more than 1,200 points of sale nationwide in early 2012). The bank’s loan portfolio grew at an average of around 60% from the beginning of 2010 to end June 2012, which is twice the level for the Russian consumer lending sector.
Orient Express Bank is the leading private retail consumer lender. It stands out because of its accent on the retail business (express lending points of sale and credit cards) and broad regional presence. The bank has a good mix of organic growth and consolidation of small and medium-sized regional banks. It has nearly 3 mln clients.
With historically strong positions in Russia’s Far East and Siberia, the bank has also strengthened its presence in recent years in Central and Western Russia, which are new markets for it.
Orient Express Bank’s shareholders include investment fund Baring Vostok Capital Partners (30%), International Finance Corporation (14%) and private investors.
