Artem Volynets has held the position of CEO of En+ Group since December 2010. He is responsible for the operational management and implementation of strategy aimed to turn the group into a global leader in metals, energy and mining.
Mr Volynets joined En+ Group in June 2010 as First Deputy CEO. Prior to that, from 2007 to 2010, he was Director for Corporate Strategy and Business Development in UC RUSAL (in which En+ Group holds a 48% stake). Among various projects led by Mr Volynets was the acquisition of a 25% stake in Norilsk Nickel and the IPO of UC RUSAL on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
From 2009 to 2010, he served as the Chairman of the International Aluminium Institute – an international organization for the aluminium industry, representing over 80% of global production.
From 2003 to 2007, Mr Volynets was Chief Development Officer and Vice President of Business Development at SUAL International Limited; on SUAL’s behalf, he led the negotiation on a three-way merger with Rusal and Glencore that created UC RUSAL.
From 1997 to 2003, Mr Volynets worked as a consultant and corporate finance advisor at Monitor Group in London on more than 25 major international strategy and M&A projects.
Mr Volynets lived in the US from 1991 to 1997, studying at Georgetown and American Universities and working on consulting projects for the United States Agency for International Development and the World Bank.
Mr Volynets received an MBA from Georgetown University in 1997. While at Georgetown, he also studied as an exchange student at INSEAD Business School in France. In addition he received a BA in Economics from the American University in Washington, DC in 1994, and studied Geology and Philosophy at the Lomonosov Moscow State University from 1984 to 1986 and 1989 to 1991.
