Ambassador of China to Russia
Li Hui has been China’s ambassador to Russia since 2009. Prior to that, in 2008-09, he served as deputy foreign minister following five years working as an assistant to the foreign minister. From 1999 to 2003, Mr Li headed the Foreign Ministry’s Department of East European and Central Asian Affairs, and in 1995-97 he served as an adviser and deputy head of the department. In the intervening period (1997-99), Mr Li worked as China’s ambassador to Kazakhstan after earlier serving as first secretary and counselor at the embassy (1992-95).
