Former Foreign Minister of China
Li Zhaoxing is Former Foreign Minister of China. Since 2013, he has been Chairman of the Research Center for National Soft Power at China’s Foreign Affairs University and President of China’s Public Diplomacy Association.
From 2008-13, Li Zhaoxing was Chairman of China’s Foreign Affairs Committee of the 11th National People’s Congress. In 2003-07, he was Foreign Affairs Minister, prior to which he was Vice Foreign Affairs Minister in 1995-98 and again 2001-03. Over 1998-2001, Li Zhaoxing was Ambassador at the Chinese Embassy to the US, in Washington, DC. Prior to that, in 1993-95 he was Ambassador at China’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
Li Zhaoxing graduated from Peking University in 1964 and has been honored as the “Poetic Diplomat”.
